3D Embroidery and Windows 7
Hi,
Does anyone have 3D Embroidery software running on Windows 7? If, so any tips on how to get it to work. We just updated our computer to Windows 7 and now can't get 3D to work after installing it (we had it running on Windows XP before). So, here I sit with no embroidery software, Ugh! Thanks Mare |
Hi Tammy, I have tried that, even did a toggle upgrade that is recommended. Still not working, so I am thinking that there must be a trick to get it to work on 7. (although someone wrote somewhere that 3D works best on XP)
Hoping someone has had to go through this and that there is some help. |

There's a group on Yahoo called Pfaff2170machine. There are quite a few people that have solutions to this in some posts. There is also Pfaff-Talk. Someone got help in getting the old PCD software running. The Yahoo group you would have to join to even read, but Pfaff-Talk you can read.
I just kept a separate XP computer for embroidery only. It's offline, so security isn't a problem. |

A small inexpensive used laptop running XP might be your best answer - my guess is that it might more than difficult to get it working in Win 7. Another thought is upgrading to 4D - I had 3D and upgraded to 4D a long time ago and 4D works perfectly in Win 7.
Also - you could call Pfaff/Viking directly or a large dealer (their software techs are one in the same) and see if they have any suggestions. Good luck - it is always a bummer when you get something new and that "breaks" something else!! |
When we got Windows 7 I could no longer use PC Stitch, my printer or my scanner. My brother suggested installing a "virtual machine" on my computer that would run Windows XP. I installed vmware player (a free download version) and my scanner and PC stitch works with that. Canon updated the drivers for my printer so that was not a problem, but without the virtual machine, I would have had to replace my scanner. Here is a link for that, or just google vmware player:
