Double Wedding Ring or Lover's Knot are are the first that comes to mind.

go to pam's club, she has a pattern for a tree skirt that could be made into a table topper. The reason i like it is because you can put family fabric photos on it and their picture in the center. you dont' have to be a member to buy the patterns

I just purchased the Hickory nut template from Hickory Hill..Their largest size is used a lot for memory quilts with pics..I had ordered the 2 smaller sizes, but am about to order the largest one now. I wanted to make a table topper with pictures with it..It is for a Christmas gift for my children's grandmother, but this would work for your anniversary table topper too.I know there is a tutorial somewhere on this site on how to use it. Check out the tutorial http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...ks-t27345.html

Per Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedding_anniversary
50 is Golden & the flowers are Yellow Rose & violets. Something simple, pinwheels or log cabins with the flowers & add a wedding pic at one end & a pic of family or what they look like now on the other end.

It depends how complicated of a pattern you want. If you want easy, then 50 squares (charms) 5 x 10 with a couple of borders. You can use whatever size charm you want based on finished size and if you make it scrappy, throw in a few novelty pieces of things they love ie...children, boating, flowers....
Of course it depends if you want something formal or fun.

Perfect idea! ... like an I Spy of their 50 years!

I'm going to remember this one for other times ... birthdays, any anniversaries, etc.
