Keep checking Kijiji. You often see them in the $200-$300 range. Where are you in Southern Ontario? A lady in my guild wants to sell a couple of Featherweights and you could probably buy one for $250.

I'm not sure where you are in Texas, but I know at least 6 women who own and use their FWs, including me. I use mine only for piecing tops. I don't know about you, but I only need a straight stitch for piecing; I don't use any bells and whistles. I do use decorative stitches when I am machine applique-ing and quilting, but not for piecing. I also bought a Martelli binding system at Festival in Houston a few years ago, and one of my FWs is my dedicated binding machine.

Haven't read all posts but my daughter paid almost that much for mine because she wanted a 1936 model. She paid waaaay more for one for herself.
