think of each block as a BIG half-square triangle (BHST). look for a block patter you like and use your BHSTs to make BIG "Blocks".

many people will use them to make a star in the center, then one or more frames around the star until all the blocks are used up.

Hopefully, the quilting left a seam allowance. If not, you can add sashings or unsew. I learned the old Georgia Bonesteel way of lap quilting - I'm sure there are others

flip top and back over and trim batting
sew front seams together
pat batting back in place, and sew the back seam by hand.

Are you asking how to attach them? If so, I found 3 sets of instructions that included how to attach them together. Hope this helps.

Sorry no help as to the procedure, but I can make you feel better about the fact that it is 7 yrs old. I am about to start quilting one of mine that has been waiting for 8 years.
