ok so there are no stupid?
after you measure across the middle and you put on your first piece do you include this in your next measurmeant or just the main part you use to measure the firast?

Yes you do because you have a new center measurement unless you intend to put a block in the corners

Measure through the center of the borderless quilt from top to bottom to get the measurements for BOTH the side borders.
Cut them and sew one to each side.
Measure through the center of the side bordered quilt from side to side (including the borders) to get the measurements for BOTH the top and bottom border.
Cut them and sew them to top and bottom.
You don't measure, cut and sew one border piece at a time.

That is how I do all my quilts and they come out perfect. Be sure to mark with a pin the center, half way on each side of the center. Do the same with the quilt top. After sewing the side borders on, press. Fold top in half widthwise, measure and cut both pieces the same size, including both side borders, pin same as before.

I don't measure across the center. Just lay your border fabric across the center and cut even. No tape measure slipping or moving.
