??? about thread.....
 

I have been making alot of rag quilts.....Was wondering if it is ok to just use all purpose thread? Or should I use the thread that is for machine quilting? Any advice would be great. I love reading everybody's posts on here, alot of them help me so much. I am new into the quilting world...thanks again

I was going to say that I use whatever kind of thread I have on hand, then I realized you are talking about rag quilts. I have never made one of those, so can't help. I am sure there are those here who can though. My sister makes them all the time, but I am not sure what thread she uses.

I used all purpose thread on the rag quilts I have made for my nieces and they have had them over a year now and have been washed numerous times and have held up just fine.

I also use all purpose thread for my rag quilts. I haven't made many.

All purpose for me. I don't even use quilting thread to quilt. All purpose for everything.

Whatever I piece with I use for my rag quilts.
