? about what degree is the MS Large Wedge Layer Cake Template
Does any one have this template the Large Wedge Layer Cake? I can tell it's not a 60, I'm thinking it looks to be a 45 or is it the same size as the Tri-Rec?

I would say that it is 45*, the same size as one of the legs on my EZ Companion angle. That is what I am going to use. Her last video uses it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDhsId_OUyc It is called the wedge star quilt. |
I would print the page you provided in the link and use a protractor.
|
I think it is the same template that is in the Winter 2013 Quilting Quickly Magazine used for the tree tabletopper pattern.

It says it makes two wedges, per 10" square. That means each wedge would be half of a right angle (90 degrees), which would be 45 degrees.

I did put the Tri Rec ruler on the picture and it's not that size. I'll have to grab the 45 and check to see if it's that size, nope not a 45. I have plenty of rulers in many sizes lol don't we all! I figured if I have one the same size why buy another one...not that I haven't done that before! Ok I pulled most of my rulers out and the EZ Easy Kite tool seems to be the same size as the one pictured. |
Oh, I have the EZ Kite ruler! I forgotten about that one. It's years old and still in the package. LOL I remember buying it on clearance, the price says $1.99. I knew I'd use it for some quilt pattern one day.

Just watched the video on the Wedge Star quilt. I think I would make the white part of the block 1/4 inch narrower. That way you could use both sides of the triangle rather than sewing down the middle. The part she threw into the scrap bin could also have 4 more 1/2 wedges cut from it. I would starch all the fabrics well too so the bias edges don't stretch.
