Accuquilt GO Baby

I was so excited to get my delivery of the Accuquilt GO Baby late last week. I was nervous that it would be too difficult to crank the handle. It worked very smoothly, though. I have so many scraps that this would be an easy way to use [some of] them up. It came with the tumbler and the flower. I ordered the kitty and dog also. My first project is here http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...s-t285922.html .

Does anyone else have the GO Baby? What are your most used Dies?

I have the Go and I use the strip dies the most. Use them to make strips, squares and rectangles. Also cut my borders with them.

I got my Go Baby with the value die. I've since bought the kitty and the owl dies but I've only ever used the value die.

I have one, as well as the 3" finished square, the half-hexagon and the equilateral triangle. I have a looooong list of dies I want to get, but I'm bouncing between the 4.5" finished(5" cut) square to make my own charm squares and the strip die. I need both, but can only order only one at a time on my budget.

what is the maximum size die that fits in a baby go?

quiltingcandy 02-09-2017 12:27 AM

I debated getting a Go Baby when someone put them on a mega sale to use it for traveling. But since I already had the Go thought it didn't make much sense. Love the double 5in. die. There is also a Flying Geese die that is great.
The maximum width of a die is 6 inches.

i love my go baby i would love it even more if the dang dies wouldn't be so expensive, so i only have a few dies,i got it mostly for the awkward cuts so far i have the 3 size hexie, the apple core dies and i got my GD the die cuts a 41/2 ,21/2 and a half sqr triangle didn't want her to use a rotary cutter showed her how to use it and she had a ball making her scrappy.

hadn't thought about that... safer for kids to cut with.

Welcome to the club! For utliliy use, squares and hsts are a good buy. I must admit I have many dies and use them, but I have the GO...I think with the Baby you have to be careful of the die size....enjoy your newfound treasure!

Would you mind sharing a link to the GO Baby? I guess if I were not so lazy, I could google it.

Anyway, it sounds fun.

Congrats on your new 'baby'! I have a Studio, and can't imaging cutting a quilt without it!
There are lots of dies that will fit your machine. I too like the strip cutters. I also like the triangles with odd dimensions, like the quarter square units and triangle in a square. I have a 2" square die and cut enough squares from my scraps for a scrap quilt which I'm making as an ender & leader project. It's amazing how quickly I'm working through those!

Be careful if you buy the cubes -- some of the dies are duplicated in a couple of the cubes so after the first cube, the rest may not be as good a buy. Also note, if you buy the 6" cube (for instance) you will not get a 6" (finished) die. Also, make sure you use a mat with each die you use (and different dies may need different size mats) -- your dies can/will get messed up if you don't use a mat. When you look at a die, if you scroll down and click on the "Details and dimensions" tab you will find the size mat needed. Mats DO wear out so plan on replacing them so watch for sales.

thanks for all the comments and advice

I have the go baby. I wish I hadn't been so cheap and bought the larger one. I use the 5" square and the 2 1/2" strip. I use 2 1/5' for a lot of sashing and also for binding. I use the 5" for my I Spy charms.

I also have the GO Baby, but I don't get to use it...My DH loves to help me with my cutting needs if I'm going to use the GO Baby! My most used dies are the 2.5" strips, the 5" sq., and the combo 2.5" and 1/2 sq. die. He's got me so many 2.5 strips cut that I won't need any more this year! (He's "medically" retired (disabled with back and heart issues) so he has to take it easy.)

I have the GO and my favorite die is the hexie. I had trouble cutting period, so cutting a hexie was a daunting task. But I get perfect hexies every time now. There are three sizes on the die and I just put all my scraps that are odd shape on there and make hexies.

I have one and it is sitting in my sewing room gathering dust.

Same here. I have the Go Baby and several dies, but my DH, who does most of my cutting for me, says he finds it wastes material and he "thinks" he can cut by hand (rotary cutter) better.

I have had a Baby Go for several years, maybe 4 and I love it for cutting repeated pcs. I try to catch the dies on sale, or use a coupon, as they are pricey.. I have / use the 2 1/2" strip cutter, 4 3/4" & 5" square, couple flower dies, birds, circles, tumbler die, feathers, hearts, and the flying geese one, maybe some I've missed, but that's the ones I can recount. I have enjoyed using it, just remember to have your Heat n' Bond ironed on the fabric BEFORE you run it thru the Go...lolo If you like to do applique, they're worth having.
