I am beside myself with joy--I ordered an Accuquilt Go system with 8 dies (plus the one with 3 different die cuts that come with the cutter) on e-bay and it arrived today!!! It is all SSSOOOO nice- I only tried some 4 1/2" squares since I was making a charity quilt but will be using it a lot once I finish this quilt. Due to a back injury I can't stand for long periods of time to cut out a quilt so decided to give this a try. I think it is going to be fabulous. I have an old bedside table that is very sturdy and adjustable so will use that when I cut and I can watch TV when I am cutting. My birthday was the 9th so this is the gift I gave myself. One is always assured of getting what one wants when one buys for themself! HA! Sue

Lucky you...I have been toying with the idea of one of those, but no decision yet. Happy Belated Birthday...Enjoy your new toy...

Congratulations! and Happy Birthday!
Where in Kansas? I have two kids there, used to live there and loved it. One kid in Topeka, one in Ft. Scott. Happy cutting! MJ |

I love mine. I find myself using it more & more.

Keep us posted on how you like this 'gadget.' It's a lot of money to spend on something just so-so, IMO.
|
Happy belated birthday to you!!! I just love to buy myself gifts!!! Keep us posted with pics on your quilts while using your new "toy"!!!

We live in a housing area about 6 miles east of Manhattan in the country. Actually our mailing address is St. George but since we lived in Manhattan 29 years before our move to the country we still say we are from Manhattan, Kansas. GO KSU!! Sue

Congratulations, I just got mine 3 weeks ago and love it. I made a 'tumbler' quilt for my first try and it cut perfectly!! I think this is going to be a good purchase.

Congrats! Its really nice having something like this! It's great popping out a hundred triangles(or hexs, or squares, etc) in no time at all!
I have the Cricut Expression, and I love it! I can cut any shape that I can see on my computer screen. I also have the Sizzix, which is manual, while the Cricut is not. I don't use it near as much, though. |
What is the fabric waste on it? I heard it's not really fabric efficient.

Please show us what you make with it. And good idea! Buy myself a birthday present if I want to get anything I really want.

Congratulations! You can find the dies on sale from 30% to 50% off. I post in Resources when I find a sale. Be sure and go to the accucutquilters site at yahoo groups. Lots and lots of tricks and tips there. Be sure and mark you dies that save a lot of time. Check out Youtube for GO videos.
I think the first demos gave everyone the impression there is a lot of fabric waste because the fabric covered the whole die plate for easy and fast demoing. I save all my scraps and sew them together and cut shapes from them. Be sure and read the how to on the Go website. There are some dies that have to have the fabric on the straight of grain, most I just cut any way the fabric will fit. I buy myself presents all the time and don't think anything about it. I have gifts under my tree to me from me every Christmas. |
I'm so happy for you!!! Glad you bought a gift for yourself!!
I love buying me something lol :D |

ok thanks. I can't remember if it was in the yahoo group or on a blog but someone said they cut a whole bunch of squares without worrying about the grain, apparently, and all of them were off. I think it was 4.5" squares. The idea is that the crosswise grain stretches more and the pressure of the rollers will cause it to stretch as it's cut or something...
|
My Go arrived today!! I also got the 2.5" strip die. I have been looking at all my yardage, imagining it cut into strips.
|
Please let me know how it works I also have a back injury and any short cut to cutting would help out! Nikki
|
I want to know details, too! I am especially interested in the strip cutters as I am "strip challenged".
|
I finally tried my birthday toy last evening and I LOVE it. In front of the TV with family I cut 144 2 1/2" squares and was done in a few minutes as apposed to hours maybe and each one was just perfectly shaped and just like the ones before. WOW! I'm in heaven! I also cut some 2 1/2 " strips, 3" HST and it only took minutes. It took longer to clean up afterward and take the stuff back to my sewing room than it did to cut all those.
Now--I'M JUST SURE I NEED EVERY DIE MADE!!! LOL Sue |
Sue,
I would be in sewing heaven also if I had the AccuQuilt! Did you see they now have the double wedding ring templates and the Dresden plate? That is so so so tempting to me. I have seen the dies on ebay, they are much cheaper there it seems. |
