I just tried mine for the first time. Am wondering if I should starch the fabric first to keep from having bias issues.

It definitely works better with starched fabric, but I haven't had too much trouble with non starched fabric either.

I don't think you need starch. But it matters how you put the fabric in. Here's a video that explains it better than I ever could...
