Accuquilt Strip Cutter Dies
 

Howdy friends. Hope everything is wonderful in your world. It is raining and a cool 69 degrees in the great State of Oklahoma. I could live with this type of summer weather everyday. Now to my question......

I am adding to my Accuquilt die collection and would appreciate your thoughts. Which width of strip cutter dies would you purchase and please tell me why? I will be using these for borders and bindings primarily. My choices are 1", 1.25", 1.5", 1.75", 2, 2.5", 3.5" and 6.5".

I only have the 2 1/2 strip cutter. I usually do my bindings with 2 1/4 and that was the closest one..I can just sew a little bigger seam allowance. Rarely do I use the other size strips so I don't have those.

I wasn't aware of a 3.5 or 6.5 strip cutter. I only have the squares and 3.5x6.5 rectangles. Strips would be nice for borders.

What sizes do you use most as finished size? I have 1.5 (finishes 1"), 2.5 (2"), 3" (2.5 for binding) 3.5 (3"). I usually don't have a single 6" border, so I don't have the larger strip sizes. I find I use these sizes the most for piecing, bindings and borders. Sure cuts the cutting time. I rarely use the 1", 2" or 4" dies, Don't have anything bigger than those.

Ihave the 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 I use the 2.5 the most. Get your dies on ebay if you can, they are usually 1/2 price of what accuquilt charges

1.5" is the one I want for log cabins, and they now have a 2.25" strip cutter that would be nice for binding. I use my 2.5", but my 2" has never come out of the packaging. Oh well, it was clearanced cheap at Joann's. Only you know what size strips you usually use. Have fun deciding. :-)

I have all those escept the 1.25 and 2. I use the 2.5 the most followed by the 1.5 and 1.75 when I'm making my flange bindings. I use the others too, great for cross cuts to make squares or other sizes

Use the 2.5 for borders and binding. This is the only strip cutter I have.

I use the 2 1/2 and the 6 1/2 the most. I have the log cabin die and use that to make strips for string quilts.

I have the 2.5 and just got the 1.5 to do log cabins. quite happy with those 2 and plan on getting some of the wider ones later.
