Accuquilt
I took the plunge and got the cutter!! It has been long enough and I have made my way through enough quilts to convince my husband it would be a good investment. Now the question is - for those that have it - what is the die you like the most? I have the oppertunity to ask for these for Christmas and just can't decide. I got the starter kit so I have a lot already. I know I want the Tumber, I just like the way they look scrappy. But I am thinking I want a strip cutter but I don't know what the best size it. I am thinking 3.5 but I am not sure why :)
Any suggestions? |
I have the 2 1/2" and use it all the time. I have the tumbler (both sizes) and I like the smaller one better. I use the hexagon and the circles alot too. Enjoy it!!!
I use the 2 1/5 inch strip cutter all the time...that is what I use for my binding. I also have all of the other strip cutters. Love them all....
I have the 2 1/2" strip cutter - love it for binding and cutting my own jelly roll strips. There are so many patterns for jelly rolls and you can make your own!
If you get the 2 1/2" strip cutter, you can use it to swap strips in the swap I host occasionally here at the QB :)
I love mine, I have the 5"-4" sqs -stars- hexagons- snowflakes- trees- and a flower. I want the tunbler, I am thinking about the strips, but I think I would like a strip cutter. I may ask for that for Christmas. It only comes with 1 mat and I could use a long mat as some of the patterns are long and narrow.
I have the 1 1/2, 2 1/2 and the 3 1/2 strip dies but the most popular, most used is the 2 1/2/ used for binding and can be used to cut 2 1/2 squares.
I use the 2 1/2 strips the most. Great for binding
I invested in many of the shapes or figures. I wanted the cutter for applique. I make a lot of Linus quilts and currently little dresses for the children in Hatia etc. They are really cute and so easy with the Baby Go.
I don't have one it is on my wish list but I would get the 2 1/2 strips. You can do so much was it.

Joanns will be having a sale on the 'Go' on Nov 25 & 26. They will go on sale for $199.99. At least in my area, (New Hampshire) I'll bet the store will be mobbed that day. Hope J will have stocked a lot of them. I'm even interested cuz I have a very hard time cutting fabric. (Cant stand up for more than a couple of minutes.) If I put the 'Go' on something a little lower than the table I work on, maybe I'll have enough leverage to turn the handle and get nice pieces and strips for a change! Also they are selling the 'Go' accessories for 25% off!!!!!!!
Be sure to get there early. I went last year and the cutting line went all the way around the store. After about a half hour of not really moving I left. Or if you do go - try not to get the fabric. :)
Maybe you can order it online during the sale. So many retailers have the same sales online during Black Friday. I love my Go Cutter and use the 2 1/2 inch strip die and the 5 inch square die the most.
Good luck |
I use the 2 1/2 inch strip the most!
I have most of not all dies... My favorite is the Tumblers and the 2x2, & rectangle...
make sure you have back up mats as they wear out if you use it as often as I do.. |
Just order all of them as you find one on sale. I have about every Go die there is. Some I haven't opened yet but they were on clearance or a great sale. I have dozens of mats in my stash also bought on a great sale if I need them or not. Right now my favorite die is the 6 1/2" HST. I have hundreds of them cut for all kinds of quilt patterns.
I bought the 2 1/2 inch also. I think I will get the one smaller too.
I have been considering the Go cutter but I do have a question regarding the Baby Go. Do you know which dies cannot be used on the Baby? My quilt space is rather small (ok it's cluttered) and I think the Go Baby would fit better. Plus we RV and I would like to take it with me and space is a real premium there. I can cut my own strips. Thanks for your expert opinions on this.

I love the 2 1/2" for cutting binding. Also really use the triangles. The cut is perfect and the match when piecing is accurate.
I use the 5 1/2 sq allot and critters...butterfly, dragonfly and lady bug...I use these for my labels...
I think the strip cutters are the bread and butter of this product. With strip cutters you can cut borders, bindings, sashings, squares, and diamonds. I probably use the 2 1/2" strip cutter the most because every quilt I make needs binding.
I absolutely love the applique dies. I have an embroidery machine and most of the applique dies have embroidery designs so you can do machine applique in your embroidery hoop, using the die cuts. I love doing applique this way. |
Great Sandyl! Have fun.
One of my favorites is the raq cutter; makes rag quilting so much faster. I'd say go for the strip cutters; from strips you can cut blocks and triangles, and of course long strips for bindings, etc. I just got the tumbling one. I also have the ones that do animals and baby things to applique on the back of my rag quilts making it a reversible quilt.

Yah for you! I love my cutter. I tend to buy dies that I would refuse to cut otherwise like the circles and the applique dies. I do have strip dies and I use the 2 1/2 strip the most.

I have 1.5 and up love them all!!!!
The 2.5 strip cutter is great for cutting the binding strips.
Love both tumblers, the strip cutters, chisels, half sq triangles, and lol all my other ones santa is bringing rag and hexagon
I also decided to buy the AccuQuilt at JoAnn's. I decided to also get the strip cutters. It is going to be my x-mas gift!
I buy the dies from Shoppers Rule, Sewforless, Bayside Quilting, Amazon, and any other place that has a good sale on them. I pay anywhere from $20 to $80 per die. I like the dies to try. Limited editions of dies that may not be made for distribution. The Dies to Try change from time to time. http://www.accuquilt.com/go-shop/die-to-try.html
