My mom got one for her birthday and uses it for strips and squares. I use it sometimes for strips and squares, but mostly I like it for shapes that are more of a pain to cut out, with curves- like circles and apple cores. I really want to do a clamshell quilt, I don't know if there's a die for that, I'll have to look. Simpler shapes like strips and squares I feel like it's just faster for me to rotary cut than trying to get the fabric folded just right to reduce waste.

I heard from an ower of a quilt shop, they waste fabric.

I have the Accuquilt Go Baby which I use for two things--cutting small triangles and rectangle strips. I could NOT get the dies that cut squares to be accurate. I kept getting the dies that cut squares (2.5x2.5 and 5x5) and after getting two or three of each die, found that none of them cut the fabric accurately. In fact, the triangles and rectangles are not accurate, either, but for what I use them for they are fine. As for me, I disagree with the "Accu" part of the systems name. Nothing I have tried has been accurate for me.

I received the Go for Christmas in 2010. I use it for hard to cut quilt blocks like the tumbler or Drunkards Path. I also have several applique dies. I don't see the need for strip dies because you have to cut a strip to put on the cutter.

so many things to reply to...I have a GO, have had for about 1 1/2 yrs and have collected a good amount of dies, and have used the ones I have and am well pleased with the outcome. I would recommend the machine without hesitation. The dies can be found on sale at several sites-along with s&h, which sometimes can cancel the sale price, if all else fails, JoAnn has 25% off most of the time. I belong to a yahoo group whose moderator is also a dealer with what I consider great prices, so she is my source. The cost of the dies is usually a "one time cost" unlike rotary blades, rulers, templates, mats. The material that is "wasted" is really miniscule and I really don't mind that, if I know my cuts are accurate...worth the trade off to me---one can safe those slivers and make animal shelter pillows or I have seen people who sew over a bunch with decorative emb designs for embelishment....so like in every other craft, hobby all can be re-purposed. As far as Sizzix being better, I don't know that, as I don't have one, but I understand that they are breaking their connection with Westminster Fabric and will redo the machine and up the price in the near future.
I recently saw the alto at demo and was doubly glad I decided on GO instead, as Alto was something I was considering at the time.
As far as not needing because only use strips.........believe me it is faster to GO strips than lining up and rotary and guess what - no little dip or slip of ruler!!!!! These are just my thoughts and reasons for my purchase, but like everything else, not everything is for everybody, but I am positive about my purchase.

I have had mine for about a year and a half and I use it quite a bit, I like the accuracy and the speed of it. cut a double wedding ring for DD getting married in August and it turned out beautifully.

I just won the Go at a quilt show. Where is the most reasonable place to buy dies?

I also have the studio and wouldn't give it up for anything. You have to want to cut this way for it to be beneficial to you. I have RA and the studio has saved me so much time and grief. For me, it's a wonderful invention.

I don't understand all the posts that keep saying 'the dies are expensive'. Are they suppose to be cheap? I don't want to buy dies that are made cheap. The Accuquilt isn't for everyone but I'm so glad it is for me.
