Adding Borders

I've finished the centre of my log cabin quilt, but still undecided about whether to add a border.

At approx 54x66 (I made a mistake with a row of logs and had to juggle the blocks) it is plenty big enough already for the guest bed and for me to manage with quilting. Would the borders finish it, or do you think it would look nice with binding as is?

I'd use the center block material for a border and be very happy.

Thank you tkhooper, although I forgot to say, I don't have enough of this fabric left, but have some brown with sprigs.

This is the fabric I was thinking of, or to use as the binding.

If you are happy with the size, I would call it done. It doesn't need a border, but I think your choice would look nice as well. Lovely quilt either way.

^^^^ I agree ^^^^

I think it looks fine without the border, and perhaps use the darker brown for binding? Especially if this size fits your purpose, and would be easier to manage while quilting.

I personally would leave it without a border.

So kind. Thank you so much. Sorry I didn't reply straight away, I was measuring and procrastinating and then deciding.

I'm going with no borders and agree, humbird, I'll bind it with the darker fabric as I just have enough of it with a couple of inches to spare if I have a 2 1/2 inch. Using the lighter brown and piecing it with a small amount I have left of the Crimson with flowers and the cream with bears, I will have enough for the backing without having to buy any other fabric. YAY!

Now, I just have to get to grips with FM (I'm not there yet) or it's back to SITD or cross-hatching again. Thank you.

I like them both. The darker brownish sets off the blocks, which is good. Nice Work, and it's a very pretty quilt.
