Adding lace
 

I have made the top of a disappearing nine patch. I want to add some lace in the squares Should I sew on the lace before I layer the quilt for quilting or should I make it part of the quilting process.

When I add lace to a quilt I put it on after it is quilted while I hem it

The usual practice is to add embellishments after the quilting. If it is going to be around the edge of the quilt then you do it when binding. If you are hand quilting do it either way.

Think of crazy quiting. All the embellishments are done after the quilt is done.
