Additional Lighting
 

I guess my eyesight is fading with age. A few years ago I purchased an Ott light. Love it, love it, love it. However, I have now begun FMQ in ernest, and that Ott light that sits behind my machine would be on the floor so quickly when I was moving the entire quilt through and around, so I know I can't use that.

I am thinking of getting an LED light strip for my machine. I've included a link below to give you an idea of what I'm considering (additional light right in that throat area):

Has anyone tried anything like this, and what do you think of it?

What do you use if you need additional lighting?

I had something similar and didn't really like it all that much. Not I have a floor style Ott type lamp and love that. I can have it sit behind the machine on the floor and my whole sewing area is well lit.

I move it to my reading area when needed. Just recently on the QB quilters have said that Lowe's sells one for about $49.

I have the Ecolux six strip light. It really has made a difference. I left the the paper on the adhesive and used removable double stick tape. It works fine. It's been in place on my machine since I put it on. I didn't want adhesive stuck to my machine.

I was sewing blind without the Ecolux. It's wonderful to see what I'm doing. Highly recommended.

Who sells the Ecolux?

Thanks ladies for your input. It is always good to get an unbiased review of a product you are thinking of getting.

My goal now is to find a supplier in Canada. The US suppliers are listed as part of the link above, so I'll have to do some searching for a Canadian supplier, or I can always have one of the local quilt stores order it in for me.

I have a bendable bright light (I think that's what it's called) and love it. It's small, bright, and you just stick it to your machine somewhere and you can clip the cords out of the way. I use bluetac to stick mine to the machine although it comes with it's own sticky base but I didn't want it attached permanently.

I have several of these - one lives behind my sewing machine. It is bright and I can direct it where I need it!! AND it is cheap!!
