Adjusta-Rule

Hi - a friend of my mother's gave her a tool to give to me. It is basically a 35" straight edge (clear acrylic) with a black perpendicular bar on one end that appears to be adjustable to various angles. It seems to me to be a nice tool to have to cut longer pieces of fabric - EXCEPT that the means of adjusting the angles on the black bar is really difficult. I was wondering if anyone has such an animal and might be able to give me some clues about how to easily adjust the sliding circle and pegs underneath the wing-nut when the wing-nut is loose. The name on the straight edge is AdjusTa-Rule with the 'T" drawn to look like the tool set at an angle. Thanks.

i went looking for a pic of it to satisfy my curiosity. it seems that there is no owner of the brand http://www.findownersearch.com/adjus...405-brand.html

If you want a longer ruler, Olipfa makes a 36" one. I got mine from joann.com

Sounds like something originally designed for an engineer or architect - like an adjustable t-square. I would just play with it and see if I could use it for quilting - I have tools that were meant to be used for something else that I have repurposed for quilting. it's about enjoying the journey, right?
