Seeing your trials on the quilt, I would go with the green.

I love the third color from the left. Your stitches are lovely.
What ever color you choose will be perfect.

I would red.

I would use a variegated orange, if there is orange in the floral pattern. Try and find a color that works with the colors in your floral pattern. Good luck and make sure you show us when it's finished. :)

Red!

I vote for green too. May I ask what you used to transfer your quilting design? Its so nice and easy to see. Will it stay on through your whole quilting process? Thanks in advance for the answers.

i like the red the best. anyway you go, it's going to look great!

It's a pre-printed wholecloth from The Stencil Company (see prior post). Supposed to come off with water after quilted, and I sure hope so! :)

Thats what I thought too

I'm kinda leaning towards the grey-greenish-darker yellow-ish gold-ish (is there a really a word to describe this color??) thread, I think. I like the gold-tone in it, and is just slightly contrasting to the top. I'm thinking when quilted the pattern will look more like a shadow like Karen's picture (if I'm remembering her name right) and kind of stick to the traditional feel of the wholecloth yet will have enough contrast to show the stitching. I'm also contemplating maybe using the other green for the borders to frame it, but I'm not sure. That way I can use the topper by itself, too, and not just with the runner. Thank you everybody SEW very much for your input. I'll definitely post a pic when it's finished. :)

I like the idea of varigated thread.

OK, now I'm back to being undecided again. For those who were thinking maybe variegated thread, here's another option. I attached a picture of the last wholecloth I used it on so you can see the variation of colors. I think I like it but now I'm totally confused on this final decision.

the green in the leaves would be lovely and will enhance the yellow.

i like the grey green best

FACESNORTH 05-06-2011 04:49 PM

where do you get the stencils for the designs?

wolflady 05-06-2011 05:57 PM

If it were me I would go with the green.

penski 05-06-2011 08:29 PM

pick a color that is in the table runner

desertrose 05-06-2011 10:40 PM

If you want it to show why not use either the dark green or dark red from your table runner....Enjoy what ever your decision...

Holba 05-07-2011 03:41 AM

I like the green and then the off green, not so much the red

eye2quilt, I wonder how the gray thread is looking. Unfortunately, no cabin today! Someone else in the lease (older single guy) decided to mess up our plans for the weekend. :( BUT, I said I think we should just make a day trip tomorrow, so I'm packing the quilt and the steaks.

Just did a small test so far and looks great!! When I bought it, I knew I was going to quilt it in gray.

Well, I got to start to start the wholecloth last night, and started with the darker yellow-ish. It didn't really give me enough of a contrast, so I removed it and chose a moss green (a little lighter than the darker green I 'auditioned'). Here are a few pictures of the color, and I think I'll really like it once it's finished. You're able to see the stitches (much better after the lines are removed), and it compliments the yellow background.

Just wanted to share and say thank you for all the help!

It is going to be lovely.

You don't use a frame? (just inquiring)

Yes, I actually do use a frame. Got it from a member on this board, Harry Barnett (laptophoops.com), and it's a lap frame. LOVE the thing, and I even have two sizes.

FACESNORTH 05-14-2011 07:46 PM

would some one please tell me where to get the pattern transfers for whole cloths. Thank you.
