Advice Please - How Would You Quilt This ???
1 Attachment(s)
Hello! This is a 45" square wall hanging. I think I'll do some sid and/or shadowing for the borders but what to do for the center??? I don't do many panels. I've done some free motion on my janome but nothing too complicated yet. Ideas?? Thanks 😊

I don't have any quilting suggestions, but it is just gorgeous. Great job
what a beautiful wallhanging! For the panel, how about following the lines in the flag stripes, the lines around the eagle and the lines on the wings, outline the stars, etc?
That is beautiful! I would agree with sandra64 that sounds like a good plan.
I've used this panel in a couple of quilts for QOV. One LA gal followed the lines on the eagle and the waving lines on the flag. The other did an all over stars & stripes pattern. Both were great.

Man oh Man that is BEAUTIFUL. How ever you end up quilting it it's going to be stunning. BrendaK

It is really beautiful. Love the border.
Sandrab64, I love those ideas. Thank you everyone for responding.
Absolutely stunning...no ideas...great panel!
Gorgeous patriotic quilt! No suggestions for quilting, but I love your quilt.
Gorgeous quilt. I would stitch in the ditch in the borders and then try to outline with matching thread to secure the panel in place. JOB WELL DONE.

Depending on your comfort level, I would suggest a small fill on each of the waving flag stripes, something different maybe for the red and the white; a different fill for the stars area, then an artful quilting of the eagle to highlight the feathers and such. It could easily be done on your DSM.

That is gorgeous. I like the idea of following the lines in the panel. Some scallop-y design for the Eagle's feathers maybe.

What I was thinking!

This would be my suggestion as well. Depends on your batting as well - how far apart can you quilt??

I love the quilt beautiful work

I really like the piece, but the border really sets it off.
I have never seen a border quite like that and it is fabulous. It grabbed my eye the minute I looked at this picture. Don't know about how to quilt it, but be sure not to lose that illusion in the border.
I don't do much quilting, but your wall hanging is just beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us!

Beautiful!

Your project is wonderful and love your border. Following the lines of the flag, eagle and banner shouldn't be too hard, just take your time.
Agree, the border is as stunning as the center panel!! LOVE this quilt!!
Very nicely done!
This is beautiful,l I would do straight line quilting.
Very Nice! I'd use some V's in the white portion of the borders--maybe quilting the V shapes about 1/4" apart--that would emphasis the red & blue parts. Probably I'd SID around those white stars in both borders. In the blue inner border, maybe some diaganol cross-hatching or some swirly FMQ, with SID (or down the centers) of the red/white strip. Then I'd do some outlining of the eagle in the center panel.
For the center, I would outline the eagle and other things in the panel. For the rest I'm not sure, maybe something curvy? I like what you've done with the panel.

Stunning piece I would probably do some outline stitching and std
