I would do a large purple border and do a pretty scalloped edge to match the scallops in the quilt. In the center if each of the purple scalloped I would repeat the appliqué motif but in white. Pretty purple and white top!

How about swag border ?

Aww, thank you all for advices!
A big fat purple border sounds good to me. Corner squares, too. Scalloped edges, too. I have many ideas now because of you all! Thanks so much!!! |
I don't have any other ideas to add. I just wanted to say I love your quilt. It's so different and beautiful

How about a border opposite way of five minute section so you end up with a wavy edge in darK colour
|
I agree with Ginger K. I would keep with the openness of the inner quilt. It is beautiful too.

I would first put a white border to give distance to the purple then a thin purple and finish with a deep white, I guess I might duplicate the large corners and scallops to the final white border or it may just highlight the top to leave the borders plain. Whatever you do it is beautiful!

A lovely quilt. Love the color. No advice on borders.

lovely!
This quilt http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...d-t243130.html uses borders to perfection you might do scalloped edging, easier than it sounds. The quilt remains square, but when you sew on the normal binding you add 5"-ish strip of fabric. Then applique down that strip in scallops. A scalloped binding would also work, but it is a lot more work :) |
