I like to start new projects. I get excited when I see a new pattern and want to start it before I finish my current project. I have finished 10 UFOs this past year. I currently have 2 I work on part time, 2 BOMs I'm doing, 12 hand applique blocks to put together, 1 wall hanging to finish, and purple/lavender log cabin to dig out and finish (or not).

I completed my quilt top today. I used the "strip-piecing" method (taught by Eleanor Burns and Jenny Doans of MSQC). The piecing went very well and quickly. I also took the advice of one of our Board members and cut all of the strips along the length of the fabric (less stretch). I believe this was helpful too. I am pleased with the finished top and have decided to do a "quilt" for the backing. I will use up the other five wildlife panels. Will post a photo when it is completed.

Wow. That is fantastic.

I don't usually get nervous about starting a new quilt. But, I do get nervous if I am thinking about a quilt that has 'millions of pieces'. 48 blocks of 5.75 inch log cabins seems like an endless chore to me, so I would probably stop thinking about it and never make that particular quilt.
Good luck with the quilt. I'm sure it will be gorgeous! |
Looks gorgeous! I need my Mom, too. Must be something that folks who were lucky enough to have good parents do - miss them!

That is a beautiful quilt. So gentle and peaceful.

I am almost done with the back quilt and I love it. Here it is.

These are so beautiful. Both sides are gorgeous.
You might be surprised by what the recipient will consider to be the top or the back. that's what happened to me with one reversible quilt I made. The top became the back of the quilt for my SIL... |
helou! That is so interesting to me because of the FMQ that I am planning to do on the side I want to be the top. I am wondering how the back will become or look when finished. With all of these small pieces, I believe I need to do quite a bit of quilting. I actually love the back myself.
