Age of this quilt

I need help deciding how old this quilt is. It came from an antique shop, but I have had someone tell me it’s not old at all. It’s hand quilted and about 81x106 in size. I’m Confused....

Any way you can post a picture?

A lot of quilts in circulation are imports. They aren't made very well and are made by people who get very low wages. That could be what the person who told you it isn't old means.

We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.

Some additional info regarding reducing images at post #4 and images for the scroll and upload button can be found at #5 of https://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f...d-t312607.html

It might be worth your while to have it appraised by a professional appraiser. All of us here can guess, but guessing is exactly what we're doing, especially based on pictures alone.

I can't see the photo and I'm not an expert or even a knowledgeable rookie. What makes me question the age of the quilt is the size. Most old quilts are "full size" quilts. Most were used like blankets, between the sheet and "counterpane", as my great-grandmother would say. They were not used as a bedspread, as we use them today. They did not wash well, so all efforts were made to keep washing to a minimum. The 108" measurement sounds pretty large for an old quilt.

That's my uninformed opinion.
