since there will be so little contrast, I would probably choose something that doesn't need to show a distinct design. maybe something like a trip around the world or just some nine patch variation.

This one, called Interwoven, is lovely. https://www.loandbeholdstitchery.com...en-quilt-along

If you're talking neutrals I think a log cabin would be nice or if she likes
something more modern maybe a HST quilt. |
I like the one dunster found - these two I like as well and are similar (I know one is shown in black and white) and think with fabrics that had some subtle differences any of the three would work.

Betty, I love the idea of using the white Dream Big panel.

I love whole cloth white and off white quilts. I might be tempted to find a beautiful patterned wide back and let the quilting shine.

I think almost any quilt would be beautiful in monochromatic colors. The only type of quilt that might not look good are strong geometrically-patterned ones, like the 3 dudes quilt or Labyrinth Walk. Alex Anderson wrote a whole book with several different patterns, the book is "Neutral Essentials", it may give you some great ideas, along with showing you how lovely it can be.

I think the Dream Big panel would be very pretty

I eventually settled on a different theme, but I had been considering a crazy quilt all in whites/off whites and particularly incorporating laces and trims and textured fabrics but not focusing on embroidery stitches.
My test blocks worked just fine, I used the quick construction technique from Karla Alexander, the "Stack the Deck" concept. https://www.amazon.com/Stack-Deck-Cr.../dp/1564774341 They have template kits now you can buy, Karla was one of the founders of the technique and the book teaches you to do it without templates and gives a lot of good directions on how to get enough fabrics to mix well, that's the Stacking the Deck part. |
