Almost novice machine quilter needs suggestions
1 Attachment(s)
I made a quilt for a now-grown childhood friend of my daughter's. She recently had premature twins, only one of which survived. I'm really a hand quilter, and have only done a little straight line and meandering machine quilting on my DSM. Would you have suggestions? The mother only requested "mint, gray, and pink, and modern." You're all so very helpful! Thank you in advance!

Very cute quilt! Love the prairie points. I would SITD on both sides of the white sashing and inner white border. then do a meander in the outer white border.

What a sweet quilt. I mainly SITD, do I am not going to offer advice for the quilting. I just wanted to say how much I liked your quilt.

I have no advice on the quilting, but I do like the quilt, colors, and prairie points. Best wishes for the sadness in this family.

I think Paperprincess nailed it on the quilting. Very cute quilt. Best thoughts for the family.

That's a beautiful little baby quilt & I know the mom will love it. I like PaperPrincess idea also. I generally go with stitch in the ditch also. Once in a while I will use a stencil if I want a design of some sort in some blocks (but that's very rare). Prayers going up for your DD's friend & the heartache she must be going through at this time with the loss of one of the twins.

cute quilt and really like those prairie points. I would probably SID on the white sashing and maybe do some type of echo of the diagonals in the blocks about 1/4-1/2" in. And maybe some type of scallop on the borders to "frame" the prairie points.

Love your quilt so clean looking. It no idea for quilting it's the time I always get stuck.

Very lovely quilt. I would ditch the quilt but not the HSTs. Measure the square and then go looking for a stencil that you can stitch in the center. If you can do FMQ, it is easier to follow a line than go meandering, at least it was for me. Many stencils are sold on eBay and other online stores like QIAD.
