Thanks for all your input. The quilt will be between baby quilt/lap quilt for her daughter. I think I'm going to just stay with simple pastel colors/designs for it. One that she can use now if she wants, yet be used as a baby quilt later on if she chooses.

I think that making it larger than a baby quilt it a great idea....it will have many years of use....I know I love my lapquilt!
