I have read on the QB how to clean and restore cutting matts by soaking them in a tub of water. But, with the Altos being on a wood base I don't think that's a good idea. Does anyone who has one have any tips for restoring the matt back to usable condition?

Can u wet a towel and put it on the board!?

The cutting surface is removeable. It is only attached by double sided tape.

The water will only work for self healing mats. I don't think the Alto mat is self healing, doesn't feel like it. It wouldn't do any good to soak it. I wash mine with soap and water at the sink, dry with a towel and then put more double sided tape on the back and reattach to the base. I tend to get pencil/pen marks all over the white mat.

Thanks for your help everyone! I didn't realize the matt was on the base with tape or that it isn't a self healing matt!

I didn't know that you could put your mat into water? WOW!
