I was getting very disgruntled trying to find another spool of quilting thread to match the one I've been using. Its been booting around the house for the past few years, waiting for me to take up hand quilting again - and after checking all the local stores and being unable to locate this brand, I had to purchase a spool of Guitermann (sp?) instead. LOVE IT! For weeks I've been hand quilting with that old crappy spool of thread that twisted and tangled and just figured that was the way it was.

I am happy you found the new thread... sometimes we have to bungle along with the old to find and appreciate the new :wink:

When I gave up and changed my blade in my rotary cutter I was amazed at how well it worked. Should have changed it a long time ago. Things happen for a reason.

I stopped quilting for a few years because of the hours I was working. When I retired last year, I put all of my thread in a box and sold it on eBay. Then I treated myself to all new thread to go with my current projects. I don't have as many colors and I have to buy as I go, but my machine is very happy.

I have to shake my head at some of the guild members that use old thread, to use it up, as they say. It breaks, gets knotted and shreds but still they use it up! Also they use the crappy seam rippers that weren't even sharp when they bought them. I saw one member make four passes with her rotary cutter to make a cut because the blade was so dull. She was saving the new blades 'for good' :roll:

my rotary cutter is my downfall. I wait way to long to change the blade. Why do we do this to ourselves.

I do that too but for me it is the cost. I was at Fabricland here yesterday looking for buttons to fix my Mothers coat and looked at the blades. $49.98 for 5 blades. You quilters that have access to the Harbor Freight blades are so lucky!

I don't change my blades because of the expense. Then I get a newone and it's just wonderful. I haven't tried HF for blades yet.

I've inherited a bunch of thread. Some OLD. I mean old. If it's on a plastic spool it goes out. If it's on a wooden spool I stash it in a jar just to be pretty. If it looks half way new and the price tag happens to be on it and it's below a dollar, it goes out too.

I don't have patience for old thread that breaks easily.
