Loretta,
I love the decorative stitch you used on white strips. I'm also a hand quilter and my old machine only allows me to SID I have no decorative stitches. Arthritis is going to end my hand quilting before long and I though machine quilting would be the answer but after reading all these comments I'm having second thoughts.

If I use slow speed I could probably take a nap at the same time its so slow, but if I go medium speed and try to slow down at points, curves, etc. that my stitch size also changes. The only thing I have had an real luck with is using SID, but with a zig zag; however, this isn't always real neat on curves, points, etc. I am glad to see that others have as many problems with machine quilting as I do.

My feet and my hands just don't coordinate.....

the feet just want to push harder....

No you are not the only one---I have a terrible time with it on my sewing machine. But hopefully soon, my DH will be building me a set up for a 4 foot table to put my older Kenmore on permanantly for that very use. When he does it, I will try to do a tutorial.

So you also have trouble rubbing your stomach and patting your head at the same time. I Do, so don't do stippling very well. Sometime it has nothing to do with the machine or the amount of practice.

Ive never heard of a Stippling Coach..but today i just went to a local quilt shop and bought a big style stipple stencil..say that 3xs fast! And you use the Pounce powder with it..I'm gonna give that a try..
But I too have not gotten down the technique!
good luck to us all ..ha

I tried once and horribly failed... found some stipple stitches for my embroidery machine and let it handle it. Tried a friends long arm and remember thinking I would surrendor my prized possesion to have one... NOT there is something that is wonderful about rocking that needle back and forth while sitting in a rocker!

i love to do stippling!!! it is relaxing to me , i turn on the radio and listen to the kind of music that makes me relax and as long as the music is good i can stipple away !!
