I love to stipple! I guess I am extremely lucky that it comes easy to me...but I have to be in a relaxed state of mind. It does help me to draw out my design on paper and trace over it several times to get a clear idea of what I need to do. And it never hurts to practice!

I can not get the quilt to move well on my table.

I love to stipple and find it is my fall back if I can't think of what else to do. However, I have had to really practice to get my rhythm. I found that if I put my speed half way between medium and fast and floor my foot pedal, that I can develop a really good rhythm. I have done micro stippling, large meandering and medium stippling

starch the back and have lots of space in front of you and to the side of you for your quilt to rest. you are fighting with the weight of it.

MomtoBostonTerriers: (I'm a mom to Boston Terriers, also) I'm also new to quilting and have recently tried stippling and also find it hard at times to keep a nice rounded pattern. Sometimes, when turning corners, I get a point and uneven stitches. Candice, thank you for the info on the Supreme Slider, etc. Will purchase these items...anything that will help would be wonderful. When I first started learning to quilt (on my own w/help from the wonderful people on this forum), I found it difficult, but it is getting much easier now. I think this will be the same for stippling. Thanks to all on this forum for your time and the advice you give.

What patterns work for you? Just curious as I've had no luck with quilting.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned is reading your machine manual as to how machine needs to be set up for stippling. One warning.....if using a hopping foot, keep your fingers away from it. Ask me how I know.
