3 meters of white cotton with gold dots, 2 meter blue cotton with silver dots and 1 meter( or possibly 1,5 or 2 = this is not yet counted in the price i m saying))), it will cost me just approx 300 nok which is 47 dollars

(((((( http://coinmill.com/NOK_USD.html#NOK=300 )))))

it is pr meter 7.84 (50 nok) which is less than it normally is a meter.
Normally for plane coloured cotton its atleast 80 nok = 12.54 // 100 nok=15.67

soooooooooooooooooo am i really stupid?

Butterflyspain 07-17-2009 12:18 PM

Nope, if you think you can use it, then go for it Sunny. Material is expensive here as well, so when I see something on the Web, I go crazy.

If the fabric speaks to you and you have the money then why not? That is enough to use as backing, and I find that I never have large enough pieces for backing.

I am, however, not qualified to answer the original question. See, I have a room full of fabric that all talked to me at one time or another. If any more speaks, I have to move. lol

i am slightly thinking getting 30 cm or 50 of this green but i am not very good at using green so am open to suggestions from you

SJATTERT GRØNN M/GULLPRIKK

Guess i gotta order before bed time now or at latest tomorrow

(ps, i m also getting hello kitty fabric but i know what to use that for, lol)

ofcourse if you think i should order less of the fabric i m open to that too.

i can even do my very best of taking sum photos of the fabric i hae in mind to use this with.

pattern wise i will do 5 ish quilts, sum rag quilts and sum combo of plane block and railway and or 9 pathches.

It sounds like a deal to me- if I am reading/understanding right. I pay up to $9 a yard around here where we have a very low cost of living. And fabric overseas is more costly from what I hear. Go for it! Especially if you love it.

Also, I was just at Joann's two days ago and I looked for that teal/green scrolly fabric that you liked from my brown and teal quilt, but they did not have any.

sunnyhope 07-17-2009 01:28 PM

I think its hard to love a fabric from a photo, i guess thats why i m unsure but am i very wrong that if i change my mind or anything like that , i might be able to have it sold here???

Lacelady 07-17-2009 02:11 PM

If you can afford it, go for it - if you hate it when it arrives, you can sell it, or use it as backing. It won't go to waste.

littlehud 07-17-2009 05:44 PM

If you like it and have the money, I say go for it.

Quilt4u 07-17-2009 05:54 PM

Go for it. You only live ounce to quilt.

kluedesigns 07-17-2009 05:54 PM

i paid much more than that the other day for some ombre fabric that i fell in love with and i plan on going back and getting more.

go for it.

amma 07-17-2009 08:40 PM

First off I don't think you are stupid  Secondly, if you really like this material and you can afford it, then buy it!!! I find that when I figure out how many hours of enjoyment I get out of $50 worth of fabric...that is pretty cheap entertainment 8) 8) 8)

Ninnie 07-17-2009 09:04 PM

Go for it. If you like it and the price is reasonable!

pittsburgpam 07-17-2009 10:28 PM

If you can use it, go for it.

I bought 14 yards of a quality white-on-white because it was $3.50 per yard. Might take me years to use it or, might just be a couple of quilts using it as the background or for applique blocks. Either way, I'm sure I'll use it.

Bevanger 07-18-2009 04:32 AM

your not stupid sweetie. i think you did good. :D

BellaBoo 07-18-2009 07:14 AM

I think you have what I call Guilt Myself. Use to I would think, I really don't need it but I really like it, I'll think about it, I'll come back later to see if it's marked down....I stopped that way of thinking. I have raised my kids, got them all through college and married and now it's me time! When I see something I want in quilting, I don't even think about it, I put it in my shopping cart. Haven't missed a meal since. :D

sunnyhope 07-18-2009 01:18 PM

Helpppppp,lol its done

i have now bought 2,9 meter( cause that was whats left on the bolt apperantly) with white and gold dots

3 m blue with silver dots( gonna be great as a back piece for a planned quilt, atleast 2 meter; then its sum left for fun

2 meters red with gold dots; seems to be good for xmas sewing objects amongst others aswell as a little to use for a girly quilt, mixed with pinks.

Shipping inluded and i think the fabric was about 140 cm lengthwise.

TOTAL: 350 nok =54.82 us dollars

should i be spanked now cause mum kinda bought( i ll pay her back in some way later on i m sure) 5 meters with hello kitty fabric ( on offer on the bolt)

same 1ith 10 meters of pink nervous velour, it cost all in total about

500 nok ( tiny bit less) 76.75 us dollars

i ll go hide now..........................................

littlehud 07-18-2009 02:22 PM

Don't go and hide. Head out to the mailbox and wait for the mailman. I'm happy for you.

sunnyhope 07-19-2009 10:17 AM

its ordered but i just got a mail saying they only had 1.9 meter left of the white but they would only charge for 1.5 and i asked for some samples of the thai silk which they said i could get for free too.

and i still get free shipping but that was extremely little anyway, only 30 nok

JoanneS 07-21-2009 08:13 PM

If you had NOT bought it, you would be very sorry :( :( :( You would dream about it for YEARS    It sounds like versatile fabric to be used in many ways. Good for you

earthwalker 07-21-2009 08:34 PM

Yes, I am with the others.....good buy! I had a look at the pictures and I think you will not find any problem using these. The silks looked absolutely beautiful too. So no hiding....use them with pride and think of all the years of joy those quilts will bring.

Granny B 07-22-2009 11:21 AM

If buying fabric makes you stupid, I must be the dumbest broad in the world. Why am I so happy tho'?

Barbm 07-22-2009 12:10 PM

I like what amma says- cheap entertainment. yes, my fabric is entertainment- I love to play in my tubs of fabric. It doesn't take much to amuse me. :)

sunnyhope 07-22-2009 02:26 PM

Just got the fabric and its even better than expected, will try to add summ of the photos i have taken of my stash,
most are fat quarters thou

JoanneS 07-22-2009 03:31 PM

I am SO happy for you. And aren't you glad you bought it before it was all gone!

jojo47 07-24-2009 07:46 PM

Granny B, there may be two of us dumb broads, then! I came home from my vacation in Montana with (almost) enough fabric to start my own quilt shop! Will I have fun with it? You bet I will! :D
