FOR JEAN, in your Loss - I THINK THIS IS COMFORTING..

Forever in My Heart

Right now I知 in a different place
And though we seem apart,
I知 closer than I ever was,
I知 there inside your heart.

I知 with you when you greet each day
And while the sun shines bright,
I知 there to share the sunsets, too,
I知 with you every night.

I知 with you when the times are good
To share a laugh or two,
And if a tear should start to fall,
I知 always there for you.

And when the day arrives
That we no longer are apart,
I値l smile and hold you close to me,
Forever in my heart.

Not sure if this would be longer than you want.

Memories by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Oft I remember those I have known
In other days, to whom my heart was lead
As by a magnet, and who are not dead,
But absent, and their memories overgrown
With other thoughts and troubles of my own,
As graves with grasses are, and at their head
The stone with moss and lichens so o'er spread,
Nothing is legible but the name alone.
And is it so with them? After long years.
Do they remember me in the same way,
And is the memory pleasant as to me?
I fear to ask; yet wherefore are my fears?
Pleasures, like flowers, may wither and decay,
And yet the root perennial may be.

"Memories are like roses in December" I don't know who wrote it but I've always liked this one.

With every stitch, a memory bound
into this quilt for you to find.
Love and warmth, smiles and joy,
bringing all of that to mind.

The threads in this quilt weaved in and out,
Just like the times we share in this life.

Each block a rememberence of a life lived before. So many blocks, so many memories, sewn together with love. So that they no longer remain a memory, but a source of joy that our souls recognize and long for.

or a shorter one...

Quilts are the memories of our lives.

kwhite 09-02-2011 07:48 PM

My favorite one is ...

"When loved ones become memories.....
Then memories become treasures."

Colleen Terry 09-02-2011 11:24 PM

"When someone you treasure becomes a memory, every memory becomes a treasure" I used this on a quilt I made for a friend whose daughter died.

What a sad day for you - Make sure you think of all the good memories - consider this a special day in that it was the day you received a precious gift from God (your son) and the special day that your DH went to be with your son. They are watching over you for sure

"Memories are the Pictures of our past that we hold in our minds".

I just wrote this. I write a lot of poetry.

One of my favorite sympathy cards said, "God gave us memories that we might have roses in December"

It's one of my all time favorite quotes.
