My family wants to do a block swap. None except me is a quilter and sewing experience is varied from excellent to none. The girls are all on board with each making a block but some are intimidated by sewing the blocks together at the end and, of course, the quilting. Any ideas?

Hmmm figure out some simple blocks for the newest quilters to do and encourage them along. They will be fine once the get behind the sewing machine and start sewing. Quilting can be stitching in the ditch or even tied. Good luck and have fun!

Maybe the 10 minute block? Turns out looking much more complicated than it really is... and gives everyone a chance to feel proud of their work

After all the blocks are made - have a "Quilting Bee" day - get those with machines to come and after it is all sewn together - baste it and start quilting it- by hand that way all can help  Sounds like fun

When I did something similar I made sure to use a simple block and had them make it a little bit bigger than needed. That way when I got them all back I could cut them to the correct size to be put together. Otherwise, I'm afraid the sizes would have all been a little different and much harder to work with.
