I think that possibly it was easier to live peacably with your neighbors then but evil and grouchy people have always populated our society, we just didn't hear about all of it 24/7 like we do today. Indeed, if we hear more good will stories , we are more likely to believe more in man's decency and caring rather than man's inhumanity to man. It truly was in many respects a "nicer place" in that people had time to be themselves, not the harried, worried homemakers of today who have too little time and money and too many frazzled nerves and duties beyond their capabilities.

Beautiful people! You are so right.........we wouldn't have wars if all people were like this. I find most quilters are very compassionate and generous, don't you?

Another proof that the world hasn't gone completely to h--- in a hand basket!!!! Hearing this is such a wonderful positive way to start the week.

There are still loving, caring people out there & I think probably 100% of the members of this board would fit that category. Too bad more people don't have the heart of quilters. (Maybe many just need the love of a comfy quilt to soothe them)

Have a blessed day & may all your quilts be filled w/love.

This brought tears to my eyes to think that Joann and the lady who makes the flags are both such wonderful people and members of this board! I am PROUD to associate with them through the board!

uote=mimom]Saturday I put up some of my stash for sale, included was a piece of Navy blue with white stars. It sold within seconds. This morning I received this message:

Hi Mimom,
I work a 14 hour day on Saturdays and did not get a chance until now to check out your sale. Would you please let the buyer of #1 - Navy blue with stars - know that I am desperate for 1/4 yd of this fabric? I make small flags for veterans and caskets of deceased soldiers. It looks like this fabric (thanks for the ruler on the side) is absolutely the right size for a field of 50 stars in them. I've been searching and I missed it. 1/4 yd would go a long way in making them and/or their families very happy.

I passed the message on to the person who bought the fabric and she replied:

Please cut the 1/4 yard and pass it on to her for me. I'll pay the full price but she is welcome to the 1/4 yard.
Thanks,
Joanne

I offered Joanne any piece of fabric from my stash and she declined.

If the whole world was like these people, we wouldn't have wounded soldiers.
