I fully believe that kind, generous people outweigh the trolls, and they're not just quilters and they're not just on this board! My husband and I both regularly get into "pay it forward" lines at our local coffee shop drive-thru, where the person at the head of the line pays for the coffee of the guy behind him, who then pays for the coffee of the guy behind him, and on it goes. There was the story last Christmas of a humorist blogger who bought an albatross-like item at an estate sale, then blogged of its hysterical adventures. She printed up picture postcards for sale to recoup the ridiculous cost of the albatross, and ended up making $600, 6 times the cost of the item, so she gave out gift certificates out to the first 20 people who needed help getting Christmas for their children. When the 21st person asked for help, a reader volunteered, then another, and another, and on it went. $42,000 later every single person who had asked for help had been matched with someone who wanted to help. There was no government, organization, or corporate involvement, the blogger had not asked anyone to contribute, it was the spontaneous kindness and generosity of ordinary people that spurred it on, and THAT'S what makes this country great.

Hi Mimom,
I work a 14 hour day on Saturdays and did not get a chance until now to check out your sale. Would you please let the buyer of #1 - Navy blue with stars - know that I am desperate for 1/4 yd of this fabric? I make small flags for veterans and caskets of deceased soldiers. It looks like this fabric (thanks for the ruler on the side) is absolutely the right size for a field of 50 stars in them. I've been searching and I missed it. 1/4 yd would go a long way in making them and/or their families very happy.

I passed the message on to the person who bought the fabric and she replied:

Please cut the 1/4 yard and pass it on to her for me. I'll pay the full price but she is welcome to the 1/4 yard.
Thanks,
Joanne

I offered Joanne any piece of fabric from my stash and she declined.
