Hi from Anchorage. If you're traveling here and have time, I'm available to escort you to the local quilt shops. Many tours have one day free in Anchorage and that gives plenty of time to make it to four shops in the area. PM me if you are coming this way. I'll use any excuse to go shopping again and I'd love to show you our great stores.

Yep! we've got great ones. I"ll give you a tour when you get here. I had lived in Alaska for 54 years before moving to N Florida, The last 6 years in Seward, which had a very small quilt shop. It served the purpose. There was a small quilt shop in Eagle River too, don't know if it is still there. I just wish that there was a quilt shop closer than 50 miles. |

Mamahen, the Kenai fabric center is still overwhelming! hard to get thru some of the aisles!
For those who are interested in the details, a friend and I figured out that in the Anchorage commuting area we have 7 good quilt shops and only about 300,000 people, while on the Kenai Peninsula, with about 100,000 people there are another 6 quilt shops. Bet we have more quilt shops per capita than any other area of the US! It's heaven to be a quilter in Alaska. |
