Anita Hallock's book, Fast Patch: A Treasury of Strip-Quilt Projects

The book features on the cover a blurb saying New Lay Flat Binding. I can't find it anywhere in the book. There is one page how to sew on binding but nothing new that I can tell. Anyone that has this book what is she talking about with the New Lay Flat Binding? The book is an older quilt book and has wonderful strip piecing patterns and techniques. I love how older quilt books are really books. This one has 186 pages.

Is it possible the book has that plastic spiral binding stuff and that's what they are referring to, that the book itself lays flat when open?

My initial thought would also be that the blurb refers to the actual binding of the book.

You say the book is old, is it old enough that the plastic spiral binding was new at the time?

LOL! I think it is referring to the book binding. I was fixated on the quilt binding it being a quilt book. The book does lay flat and no spirals. I had a good laugh at myself over this. :p

I saw Patrick Lose on F&P show how you can clip a dog ear section out of your binding. I have been doing 1.75" double fold binding for mug rugs and it really does help with the corner being more flat.

I was curious what a 'lay flat binding' was too, was so I googled it (along with the word 'quilt'). It took me 10 minutes of looking before I realized they meant the book!

I hope you enjoy Fast Patch: A Treasury of Strip-Quilt Projects. I probably say this far too often to quilters that I know: Anita Hallock was so far ahead of her time we haven't even caught up to her yet. If I could only have one quilting book forever, this is the one I'd have. You can do anything with this book, and every time you try something you just have to go on faith because common quilty sense says it won't work. But it does, just like magic. Hope you have fun! I think I need to start an Anita Hallock fan club LOL!!

Twilliebee your praise of the book on another post is why I bought it. It is full of great techniques and lots of charts. And yes the book does lay flat!! LOL What was so interesting is the quilts in the pictures are mostly all tied. It's hard to find that in the new books when all the quilts are machine quilted to death.
