I mark blocks, rows etc. with Crayola washable markers.
|
I did that a couple of years ago. I always have lots of Sharpies in my home.
|
Don't remember what they cost, but I bought a bag of numbers and a bag of letters that have a loop on the top. I slip these on safety pins and pin to the first block of each row. I got them at Hobby Lobby in the bead section.
|
I have been doing this since I was using patterns calling for numbered pins. This works well and the numbers are permanent.

Dunster and I are on the same page! Works great for me.

Thank you for some great ideas!

All great ideas, I often go to sleep thinking of different quilting patterns for those UFO's. Better than counting sheep.
|
These suggestions are great! Beats my sticky note with a straight pin thru it which many times I get picked with! Going to try the numbered beads. I have a box of small bent quilt pins that I think would work great and they are a bit small for basting with. You quilters come up with some great ideas.

About a decade ago, I cut small squares of heat resistant plastic template material and added one hole with a punch. Rows 1-10 marked with a Sharpie. You could also add arrows for directions. Squares attached to piles with safety pin.
I like Dunster's idea of printing out a numbered sheet and pinning individual labels to upper left corner. (Keep It Simple, Kay) Thanks, Dunster! This method is quick, easy, and doesn't waste time or space :-) |
That's what the leader of my QOV group has done. However, they do tend to fade and are very small.
