I am not sure how to explain my idea in words, so am going to start a topic with a sketch explaining. Will title it the same as this topic. I think it will stretch your fabric enough to enable you to use the green.

If you have any of the colors left over from your quilt you could sew them together and make your binding. It really looks neat well at least I think it does.

Beautiful quilt. Looks like you've got lots of suggestions for your problem. How nice!

You could piece strips together so that it is wide enough for the binding. As long as the correct color is over half the width then you wouldn't see the incorrect color as it would be underneath once you folded the strips lengthwise. Clear as mud, right?

Is your top quilted? I can't tell in the picture.

Try recalcing usng 2 inches instead of 2 1/4. Double fold and stitch uding a scant narrower than you normally use. This is the size I always use and it makes a nice sized a fully stuffed binding.

Join the binding edges straight instead of on the diaginal. I know that this is not the best method but it does save fabric is you are short.
