another chemo quilt question

I love this board, you guys always have great information

I have a piece of minky that is big enough for the backing.

Is minky ok to use for backing on a chemo quilt?

Yes! It's soft and gives the quilt an nice drape. I use it on baby quilts for that reason also. Spray basting works well for the sandwich

Yes you can, makes it soft and warm.

Thanks for your answers.. can I still use batting with the minky? What do you think?

I have used milky as a backing with & without batting, but like batting in it.

I always use batting with Minky backing. Use it for most of my grandkid's quilts and baby quilts. I'm sure it would be perfect for a chemo quilt, too.

I use batting with minke backed quilts all the time- love them!

It'll make a perfect chemo or dialysis quilt! The batting will give it some structure and make the quilting stand out more than it would otherwise.

I used w&n as batting with minkie for a chemo quilt. It was so heavy!! I think if using batting with the minkie again I would find something light. Mine turned out nice but way too heavy. I used the minkie from JAF that goes by another name. Am wondering if it is heavier, will have to try the real thing some day.

I used Hobbs 80/20 with Minkie on a king sized quilt for our DD and I bet it weighs 50# Personally I like the Minkie without batting, which makes it cuddly and soft draping. If you want more warmth, I would use a very THIN poly batting so as not to increase the weight.
