Another "duh" moment
I have been machine sewing after a long absence and thought the machine sounded rough. So I oiled it all over, still sounded rough when sewing - almost a slapping or tapping noise. Finally figured out, the plate that the feed dogs go through, which I unscrewed to oil in there, was not screwed down tightly (sort of like my brain!). Tightened the screws and she is purring like a kitten. Laziness does not pay off (I did not have, or could not find, a screwdriver when I took it off and put it back, so I used a large needle!)

I can relate!

Reminds me of the hair dryer at the hotel last week. It wouldn't work! I pushed every button on the dryer and the wall mount then called in my hubby. He took a look at it and ...plugged it in!!!?!?!
I think that is why we keep them around....
So happy it was an easy fix!
Not me I keep several size screw drivers in my machine drawer. Good for you to check it, could have been dangerous if it got loose enough for the needle to hit it.
haha yep been there
I keep a thin dime handy for those machine screws in weird places.

Keep a screwdriver in your sewing kit - I do. In fact, I keep several of different sizes, just in case!
I use a penny...........
I keep a couple small ones in the storage box on my machine, along with extra bobbins and feet.
I also use a coin on my small brother machine. My h just gave me a screwdriver that he cut real short and smoothed on a buffer thingy...it fits, I now have a screwdriver for the brother drawer! I get that plate wrong too...sometimes!
Glad it was an easy fix! I hate to be in the middle of a project and start having machine problems. Normally my "machine" problems end up being "user" problems!
Glad you found your problem before major damage was done!
HAHAHA !!! I can relate and so can DH !! HE coudn't figure out why the electric chopper wouldn't work when he wanted to chop up the peppers we found at the U-pick it place to make Taco Salsa.. Dear one umm plug it in (he hadn't plugged it in !!LOL) and trust me I have had days like those too !LOL
Very glad you found the "problem" before any major damage was done to your machine ! |
I had the same problem, so used a dime or penny. Worked great.
