I luv to use my quilting stitches through all 3 layers. The first one I did I did not use the flatter machine batting but now even with the machine batting my stitches are not tight like they should be. I know it not machine as a test comes out great. Its so hard getting all 3 layers tight in hoop. Was wondering about using water sol stablizer on the back?
When you wash this and it dissolves does it clog up your washer? Thanks Gale |
Sounds like a tension problem or maybe more pressure to the foot. I have several machines and have never had a problem like this

I don't hoop my quilt but use a sticky back stabilizer in my hoop with a window cut out where the motif will go. I then pin or stick my quilt to the edges of the sticky back. I would use the water soluable on the top to keep the top stitching smooth. I haven't clogged up my washing machine yet.... but I do sponge most of it off before laundering.

A photo of your problem would be helpful. It sounds like you need to adjust your tension. Quilting through 3 layers means you probably need to adjust your tension.

Thanks all
Quilter41 a lite bulb went off when you said tension. I have a foot tention knob on top that I turn to 2 when doing dense em stitches soI left it at 3 for reg sewing and did a test piece and works alot better. Guess I still need to play around. Thanks Gale |
Glad to hear that you were able to fix the problem :D:D:D

Do I understand you right that you don`t use the top piece of hoop and put sticky on top with the window cut out for design? Picture please Thanks Gale |
I have used Sticky stabilizer by Sulky for several of my projects. You can purchase a pkge of it at Joann's. Works great when you don't want to put your project in the hoop. Sorry I don't have the capability of pictures.
