I am TRYING to organizing my fabrics
I have no problem with folding up fabrics I have never used.

So myquestion is, if you have yardage pieces left from a projust, when you fold it up - what do you do with the cut pieces (scraps) left over -

Do you -
1. Put them in a scrap box or
2. Fold them in with the fabric you are folding
3 . Fold a note into it- with sizes left over

I am curious about this question too. I have some fabric that has some irregular shapes just hanging off of it, but I havent cut them off yet. I just figured it was better to keep them together???

It depends on how much fabric I have left. If I have 1/2 yd or more, the scraps go in the scrap bin. I don't cut the irregualr shapes off, just leave them "hanging"!

I usually try to keep larger bits folded up with the yardage. Smaller bits I cut into whatever size squares or strips I can. I keep my scraps as 1.5, 2, and 2.5 strips, however long or squares that are 2, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, and 6.5. Strips and squares are mostly grouped by color, so they are easy to find.

I try to keep as much of my fabric together as possible. Who knows when you'll need just that little bit extra to do something with.

Until I'm done with a project I keep the fabrics I'm using with the project, after I'm done with the project if I have at least a 1/4 yard, I fold and put in the appropriate drawer, the scraps go in the scrap tote, although I need to change that because I have 5 large totes full of scraps that I need to cut into strips and squares. I'm in the process of doing that and after I'm finished with those totes I'll cut the scraps into the strips and squares then instead of later.

Here's how Bonnie Hunter does it.

Ditto! that little piece could be 'just what you need to finish a project'
