Another Favorite FMQ tool, CHEAP

While at the last Sewing Expo in my area I saw a demo of hand pads for FMQ. The price was $30, ouch. My friend Redbugsullivan said that was waaay too much money and she had an idea that dryboard erasers would work just as well for less $$. She gave me a two pack to try. These pads are working for me as they grip the fabric very well, are soft on the hands, don't have to remove my quilting gloves every time for a bobbin change and they are cheap!

I heard or saw something a week or so ago about using sponges in this manner. I had a package of inexpensive sponges in the kitchen and tried them. Was very pleased with the way they gripped the fabric. Is there an advantage to using the dry erase pads? Thanks.

How does anyone know items work just the same without comparison? I would have to test the quilting pads first to know how the sponges or erasers compare and then decide about the price difference. I have sprayed basting spray on batting squares to use to move my quilt top while fmq.

Very clever! I may have to give those a try. And if they don't work out, I can always donate them to the school.

This is cool! I'm going to try this. I hate having to keep taking off my quilting gloves to do anything.

Must go and see if I have any sponges which work in the same wAy.
