Another name for this pattern?

I stumbled on this pattern surfing the internet. I really like it, but then saw it was a mini quilt. I'm not interested in making mini quilts. It's much easier to have a pattern than to make one up or upsize one. Is there a common name for this quilt? It's by redroosterquilts.

That was the first quilt I ever made, adapted from a baby quilt to double size. Simple enough pattern but I was a seamstress back then and oh my how those diagonals like to stretch when ironed instead of pressed.

Take any size square you want. Cut squares of background fabric half the size (If you start with a 10 inch square, you would cut the background squares 5 inches) Draw a line diagonally on the background squares. Lay one background square in the upper left of the large square, sew along the line, flip and trim. Do the same for the lower right corner.

And Mr Google found a tutorial for x's and o's https://quiltingtutorials.com/tutori...ting-tutorials

I too have seen it as X's & O's It has been in the public domain for a century or more. Here is a free pattern for it.

It amazes me that a pattern that looks to be complex is so simple. Thanks for the tutorials. I may have to try this. Another on my long list of quilts I want to do. Now to get sewing. lol

The traditional name I know for the block is Nonesuch, that's just the diagonal rectangular bar with the two triangles on either side.

It can easily be developed in many different ways/size. Earlier this year in the Round Robin project, I used small blocks to be leaves.

It is also called a lozenge quilt.
