I want to go to Mary Jo's someday........

I stopped by Machine Quilting by Iva in Sevierville last month on a short vacation to Gatlinburg. Found some great fabric and notions not available here. They were very friendly and my husband got to sit in the rocking chairs out front. I have two sons living in Knoxville we try to visit 3 or 4 times a year. What are some good shops there?

omg.. Nursesews and Mickey.. yes I go to Pappy's.. I took my Longarm class there so I can use their machines!!! We will SOOO have to arrange to meet there sometime!.. did you know Pappy has quit giving lessons?
and Did you ever go to Roosters when they were open? I've heard that there is going to be another shop moving in to their last shop.
Sorry about the hijack KWhite.. you should come join us!!
No I haven't been to Ivas or the shop in Sevierville.. just don't ever seem to have time.

I am totally cool with Hijacks. I am happy you guys started a convo. I would love to rent a motor home and travel the US from quilt shop to quilt shop. Wanna come?

mickey 11-06-2009 07:55 AM

Yes please

I did go to Roosters (not nearly enough) loved her shop but she was smaller than some of the others. Rumor is that someone is going to reopen the store but i have not heard when.

Have you heard about the new store in Greenback "Mountain Creek Quilt shop" i think . it is qperated by Terri Ayers--she was working the longarm machine at Sweetwater Quilt shop. I think it is by the Dollar General--i haven't got to go there yet. Hopefully next weekend.

But if you are going to mary jo's----you might want to see how close youare to a Store in Columbus, NC called ELAINE's ATTIC, 280 Landrum Road
She is very nice I met her at the show in Marrietta

kwhite 11-06-2009 09:51 AM

Thank you. That is another half hour in the opposite direction. Maybe next time.

What else is in Charlott for me to see? I have never been there.

mickey 11-06-2009 10:06 AM

I haven't been there myself yet (hopefully in January)
but my friend just got back from a stay in Boone and they found five or six shops listed in the Quilters Traveler. It is the book that list all the quilt shops in it in every State that requests to be listed.

Ninnie goes regularly check with her to see where else to go.

mickey 11-06-2009 10:07 AM

sorry that doesn't sound good.

Ninnie goes and she can tell you about other places to visit , tour and shop

that sounds better
