My iron is driving me insane. I guess I'm a slow poke, but it always shuts off just as I'm ready to use it and then spits all over as it reheats. My question: which irons do not have auto-shut-off? I know there are some Rowenta models, but I am hoping to find other brands.

I have a Rowenta that does not shut off and it is my greatest worry that I burn the house down. I end up turning it off way too much and the worry and the wait is much worse than dealing with an auto shut-off.

The auto shut off on mine drives me crazy, but at least I know it's off if I forget.

get one of the hair srunchies and keep it with the iron. When the iron is plugged in and on, wear it on your wrist. do not remove it until you replace it on the iron. I have one and it gets to feeling funny, but it reminds me the iron is on.

I found if I rest my auto shut off iron with the front end facing down the auto shut off does not shut off! I had an iron rest shaped like a ramp and I turned it around so the front end is pointing down. When I'm done with the iron for the day I stand it up and it goes off. It may work for your iron too.

Never turn on the steam until the iron has reached full temp. That causes 99% of spitting and leaking as you found out.

Just remember...the auto shut off features can go out

I have had a Rowenta iron for several years, no auto shut off but, now I have to unplug it as it doesn't shut all the way off and will stay a little warm. :? :? :?

I keep my irons on a metal shelf and if I see it on the ironing board I know I did not turn it off.
