Ok so the newbie here again with one more question for now! What color thread should I quilt my cars quilt with ?? The backing is red flannel, I peiced the rest of the quilt with grey so wasnt sure if I should use that same color or not. I would not make it through this without you! I have not sewn since highschool so you guys have been so much help and I am so glad to have you all!

Grey, black, red, white... all would be awesome. It depends on if you want the quilting to show a lot or a little. Lay the threads in a little "bird nest" on the fabric in different places, like on the checked blocks, your focal fabric, and the back and then choose the look that You like

What color you use is up to you. Do you plan to machine or handquilt? Are you doing FMQ or stitch inthe ditch? Might help you decide. Red would look nice, but if there is a different color you want to use, go for it!

This is true, if you choose to stitch in the ditch, your thread is really only going to show on the back, unless it is a really high contrast.

A great way to help you decide what color thread to use is to unwind a couple feet of it off the cone and lay it on your quilt in a heap. Do you like the color or does it overwhelm the quilt? Oddly enough, this really helps to eliminate those threads that are either too light, too dark, or simply clash with the quilt.

Good luck! Can't wait to see a pic of the quilt.

Thanks, I knew you guys would give me a good answer! I never thought to lay them on the quilt lol. That is what I will do I was thinking red too, but wasnt sure if it would be too bright on the rest of the quilt, I think I am doing stitch in the ditch then maybe some shadow quilting not sure yet though.

I can't wait to see your quilt. Have fun quilting it. That's my favorite part.
