I would not cut that up. It's a beauty!

You should be able to locate a quilt appraiser in Kentucky. How far are you from Paducah? Your local LQS should also be able to help. Since you do charity work perhaps they would donate their services to your group. If it is an antique I would think your group would be better served to sell it and use the proceeds to get the right type of materials and supplies you need. It would be terrible to cut it, and it would completely devalue it. It is certainly beautiful.

I agree with this!!!!!!!!!

It's lovely! If you decide to raffle let me know! I'll buy tickets!!!!

I would never cut that up, it is beautiful. I think a quilt raffle would be perfect.

Why not raffle it off to raise money for your group.

You might check to see if your LQS or local guild has someone who can appraise the value of this quilt. I would think that if a border were added, then the quilt quilted - it could be raffled off or sold to help with funding for your group. Please don't cut it up, it's part of history and there aren't many older quilts left, especially in what seems like pristine condition.

I see a fund raiser in the future. Great idea!

It is too large for our use & we hate to cut it & make 2 but we don't know what to do with it. A couple of people have asked what we would sell it for but we have no idea what it is worth...any suggestions? I'm posting 2 pics so you can see the entire quilt & see a closer view of the fabrics.

Do a silent auction as a fund raiser for supplies for your group.

Way too beautiful to cut it....

fairydawn 11-26-2013 03:45 PM

Please do not cut that quilt! It is beautiful and you would loose the effect of the design. Finish it off and raffle it or sell it as is to top bidder. I wouldn't mind having it myself!
