PLEASE keep them in the family if you have anyone who would appreciate them. Once gone they are gone forever!

Sure wish we could see pics of em! Bet they are beauties! No idea on value, to me things like this are priceless.

I agree with this statement completely, but I would also research the monetary value of these treasures for insurance purposes.......

Find a conservator at a museum to help you decide what to do. Quilting by machine should not affect the value, but who am I?

There's a quilt museum in La Conner, WA. They might be able to help you if you call them. I Googled to make sure I had the right town, so you can get info that way.

If they are that old I think I would first have them appraised by a recognized quilt appraiser before doing anything. You might be amazed at what they're worth. I know I was when I had one my grandmother made appraised.

Sell them on eBay or Etsy. I have bought many an antique quilt there and love them. I put them all over my house on quilt racks, they are to be loved and enjoyed.

I guess I'm a purist since I recommend hand quilting on a quilt of that age. I've been told that a quilt, even though pieced years ago, loses its antique value once it is quilted today. I'd be very sad to see it sold outside the family. Please offer it to grandchildren or cousins before selling to a random person. A close friend would appreciate it, too, if there is no family.

I too agree with Geri B. I own some antique quilts and I always wonder about the quilt's story and feel a little sad that the quilt was sold.

Thanks for all the input. I am not very computer savvy, so I dont know how to post the pictures, but as soon as I can get a grand kid over to help me I will send some pictures. I have been thinking about all the advice and I wonder if putting that old of quilt top on a quilt frame would be to hard on the fabric. What about tying them? Some of the quilt blocks look like the material is thin but not all of the fabric is. I have never tied a quilt but I think I could do it. I probably do have relatives who would like them if they were finished. But wouldn't know what to do with them as just the tops. I have RA so I am unable to hand quilt anymore.
