Antique Singer Information?

I'm new to the forum. I bought a Singer sewing machine at a yard sale this weekend for $60. I was hoping someone on here might be able to give me a little information on it. I looked over it real quick for a model number, but all I found was what I think is the serial number on the bottom when I lifted it up. That number is 119198. Anything anyone can tell me about it, or any resources I can use myself will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There is a vintage sewing machine section on this board. Lots of knowledgeable people and they are always willing to help.
Welcome to this wonderful board.
Machine looks to be in mint condition, I haven't seen those decals before. Lucky you.

Wow, that is a gorgeous machine. You may have hit the jackpot.

Somebody will know. Is it a Phoenix?

Thanks for the info. I put it up in that forum, too. I can delete this one if I need to. I'm not sure what it is. This is one of the first antiques that I bought.

what a gorgeous machine!

It's very pretty but I don't think it's an old one. These are being made again in China (?), reproductions of the old Singer 15s. You can tell because the decals have more colors on them than the originals. What you paid is about the going rate for these.

Here is an older thread I found that will give you more info on your machine...

Thanks for the info. I would have been really surprised it if was old, as good of shape as it is in.

Yes, it's a reproduction not an antique.

Old Singers have an elyptical metal tag with serial number which is on the machine itself. It starts with one or two letters. If you go on line and enter that number you can find out when and where it was made. I found out that mine was made in New Jersey in 1922. I hope this helps.

Nice! I assume the table went with it? I love my treadle and use it for almost all my piecing. Singer 15's are a great model and my favorite. Even being a repro I would snap it up.

Thanks, it does help. From what I've been reading, pre-1900 Singers had no letters in front of the serial numbers. Singer actually has a list of serial numbers on their website. Thanks for all the info and replies. This one isn't as old as I had hoped when I bought it. We're happy with it...we just though it was really pretty.

That's a beautiful machine. Seems to be in excellent condition with decals intact and no scratches that I can see. You got a real deal.
